Guildford Flames edged out visiting Coventry Blaze 5-4 in overtime at the Spectrum on Sunday.

A Jesse Craige powerplay goal at 62:10 secured the victory for Flames, who were completing their third game in as many nights.

Less than two minutes into the contest Blaze were on the board when Luke Ferrara netted. Flames drew level when former Guildford Junior player Richard Krogh scored his 1st ever Elite League goal after 9.44. Flames got their noses in front when Erik Lindhagen scored after 14 minutes.

However, just 70 seconds into the 2nd period Blaze levelled when Thom Flodqvist netted. The visitors re took the lead at 31:22, thanks to a Shawn Pauly strike. Five minutes later Jamie Crooks drew Guildford level, but less than a minute later Blaze restored their lead when Dillon Lawrence fired home.

Just over five minutes into the 3rd period it was Flames who drew level through John Dunbar. There was to be no more scoring in the final period as both sides claimed a point. But it was down to Craige’s powerplay effort on 62.10 to seal victory and send the home crowd home happy.
