Woking ended a four game winless run in the National League with a hard fought victory against Wealdstone at Grosvenor Vale on Tuesday Night.
The visitors scored the only goal of the game late in the match when Moussa Diarra netted.
In a game of very few chances it was the Stones who created the first chance of the game in the fourth minute. Following a free kick, the ball fell to defender Jack Cawley who saw his curled shot a fraction wide of the post.
After 11 minutes Woking thought they should have been awarded a penalty when a Charlie Cooper free kick was swung into the area with the ball hitting the outstretched hand of Cawley. Despite a stack of Woking appeals, these fell on death ears with the referee in charge.
The home side almost took the lead after twenty minutes when Jacob Mendy whipped in a dangerous corner, with Craig Ross having to be alert to push the ball away from under the bar.
New Watford loanee Sam Dalby was making his debut for the Cards and made his first major contribution to the game by seeing a powerful header tipped over the bar.
The second half followed the pattern of the first with both sides lacking a cutting edge.
Malachi Napa,s volley just over the bar from Max Kretzschmar’s cross was the Cards first chance of the half.
With twenty minutes to go Dennon Lewis cut inside the area, but his shot was well gathered by Ross diving low to his near post.
With the game looking to be heading for a stalemate, up popped the Cards to snatch all three points. The ball was clipped into the area with Diarra bundling the ball home to claim all three points for the Cards.
