Guildford Flames completed a 4-2 victory on home ice against the visiting Glasgow Clan at the Spectrum on Sunday.

Flames led by 3-0 after 40 minutes, before fending off a late Clan fightback. With the visitors threatening to take the game into overtime up stepped John Dunbar to seal victory.

Jamie Crooks opened the scoring for the Flames inside two minutes, despite Guildford holding a 17-8 shot advantage the hosts couldn’t add to their total after 20 minutes.

After 23.38 Calle Ackered netted after a cross ice pass from T J Foster to double the hosts advantage.

Early in the third period Clan closed the gap when Scott Tanski scored at 43.10. Tanski grabbed his second of the night on 51.10 to set up a nervy end to the period for the home fans. With just two minutes remaining Clan pulled their netminder for an extra skater to try and level the contest, but the plan failed as Dunbar fired home with only 48 seconds to seal victory for Guildford.
