Flames extend winning streak to four after narrow win against Clan. 31st Oct.2019
Guildford Flames continued their current winning streak- making it four consecutive victories- after completing a narrow 2-1 overtime victory against the visiting Glasgow Clan on Wednesday at the Spectrum.
A late opening first period powerplay goal put the Flames on the board when Jesse Craige and TJ Foster set up Brett Ferguson for a goalmouth tip in.
Seconds from the end of the second period Clan drew level when a ricocheting puck ended up along the goal line where Matt Haywood was on hand to nudge the puck across the line.
With no further goals in regulation, the game went to overtime with the hosts grabbing the extra point when Calle Ackered’s one-time bullet shot went into the net.
Coach Paul Dixon said after the game “That wasn’t at all our best game, but I guess when you do enough to win you don’t spend to much time thinking about it.” “We will certainly take the points, but we want to be better for Saturday and Sunday against Sheffield.”
