Guildford Flames completed back to back wins with a 6-3 home ice success over the visiting Milton Keynes Lightning on Thursday.
Flames opened the scoring on the powerplay at 5:32 when John Dunbar’s pass effort was re-directed into the net by a Lightning skater. The visitors levelled late in the opening period on the powerplay when Robbie Baillargeon sent a high shot into the roof of the net. Flames quickly restored their lead on 18:10 when Ian Watters tipped in a Dunbar pass.
Half way through the second period Flames extended their advantage when an error from Milton Keynes netminder Patrick Killen found TJ Foster who’s first time shot the bar, with the puck falling to Brett Ferguson to push the rebound over the line. Just over a minute later, Jamie Crooks gave Guildford a three-goal cushion, only for Lightning to hit back in the shape of Andreas Valdix at 30:49.
Crooks re-stored Guildford’s three goal advantage with his second of the night, only for Baillargeon to grab his second goal of the game. There was still time for Flames to have the last word when Evan Janssen netted with four minutes remaining to claim victory for the hosts and four points for the Surrey outfit inside twenty four hours.
