The hosts got of to the perfect start when Ian Watters scored on the powerplay with a shade over a minute on the clock. Jordan Abt added another for the home side on 13:59. There was still time for Flames to score a third in the period when Jesse Craige struck 42 seconds from the end of the period to send Guildford into the buzzer in a healthy position.
It was beginning to look like a scoreless middle period, until Kruise Reddick netted with only seven seconds remaining to give Guildford a 4-goal lead.
Cam Braes grabbed Flames fifth of the night at 40:43, with Ben Davies getting in on the act after scoring in the 47th minute, with Craige’s second of the night putting the icing on the cake.
There was scant consolation for Dundee when Craig Garrigan scored Stars only goal of the game with only one second remaining.
